Profile of Alexis Tindall (as at April 2010)
After graduating from a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in 1999, Alexis worked for several years in the community sector, in roles at the YWCA of Adelaide and the Flinders University Students’ Association.
In late 2005, Alexis moved to Canberra to manage a national program at YWCA Australia, and to take up a Graduate Diploma of Arts (Museums and Collections) at the Australian National University. This course is conducted in partnership with the National Museum of Australia, and draws on the abundance of collecting organisations in the nation’s capital.
Alexis returned to Adelaide in 2007, finishing her studies with an internship at the Migration Museum. Since then, she has worked at the Adelaide City Council library, as well as taking on projects such as a conservation management plan for a local kindergarten, a survey of a large costume collection donated to the History Trust of SA, and curating two small group visual arts exhibitions. Presently Alexis is part of the Museums Australia (SA) Branch Committee.
Alexis finds that the work of the Collections Council draws on her background in the community sector, and her recent studies and experience in collections.
